Young singers from across Canada auditioned.  Eight were chosen to compete for the grand prize in front of a live audience and panel of esteemed judges chaired by Music Director Emeritus, Jonathan Darlington and hosted by CBC’s Sylvia L’Ecuyer.

Congratulations to Sarah Bissonnette who won first prize at VOX. This talented young mezzo also won the Audience Choice Award. Thank you to all the competitors, judges, and sponsors for making it such an unforgettable event. VOX will be back next year on May 1, 2020 at the 4th annual Vancouver Opera Festival.

Following the competition, a gala event took place on the Queen Elizabeth Theatre stage, surrounded by the set of Faust. An unforgettable culinary experience was prepared and presented by Four Seasons Hotel Vancouver, our Official Hospitality Partner, and complemented by wines from Mission Hill Family Estate.

Dessert was a unique creation prepared by The Four Seasons Hotel Vancouver Executive Pastry Chef, Suraj Karmakar. The evening also featured a live auction and special performance by artists from our Yulanda M. Faris Young Artists Program.
